Vimal Saxena

Vimal Saxena is a Petrophysicist with over three decades of experience in Hydrocarbon Exploration and Production companies around the world. He has thirteen years of experience as a petrophysics discipline lead for planning, supervising & coordinating cost effective operations. He has several research publications and a book on Rock Physics with Elsevier Inc. During the span of his career, he has worked for Schlumberger, ONGC(Oil & Natural Gas Corporation), DGH(Directorate General of Hydrocarbon – Ministry of Petroleum, India), PDO(Petroleum Development Oman) and Salamander Energy, Singapore.

Vimal is experienced in reservoir characterization in Tight & complex carbonate, complex shaly-sands, heavy oil reservoir, intra-salt carbonate stringers, fresh water shaly-sand, high porosity clastic reservoir in Middle East, South East Asia and India. Vimal is an expert in analyzing advanced and unconventional logs including Magnetic Resonance (CMR), Dielectric, Elemental Spectroscopy (ECS), Dipole Sonic, Electrical Imaging (FMI) & LWD, saturation height modeling, facies analysis, uncertainty analysis and neural network. He is well versed in softwares like GeoFrame, TechLog, Interactive Petrophysics(IP), RokDoc, Database management software and PETREL for static & dynamic modeling. Vimal has a deep understanding of RCA/SCAL core analysis and log integration, capillary pressure analysis, permeability modeling, pressure analysis (RFT/MDT), fluid identification and also on Gassmann’s Fluid substitution, Effective Medium Modeling, Acoustic & Density Inversion, Anisotropy evaluation, Geomechanics solutions, Rock Physics-Lithology-Porosity-Saturation analysis, Stoneley Perm) and Petrophysics integration with Rock Physics. He has excellent skills in liaising management with contract operator, Technical & commercial contract review, aligning with partners, Government bodies and External Auditors. Vimal has a Master’s degree in Solid state physics from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi.
